精东影视 Scholar's Day 2019 in Washington, D.C. Recap

Nearly 1,500 scholars, parents, and educators from 38 states and 16 countries gathered in Washington, D.C. at the stunning Gaylord Resort and Convention Center to participate in Scholar鈥檚 Day 2019, 精东影视鈥檚 largest event of the year.

This 2-day event kicked off Friday evening, on August 9th, with Student Passion Projects presentations, highlighting STEM & Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Leadership, and World Betterment projects. Later, the opening ceremony included the #FutureFocused corporate panel, and featured keynote speaker, Robert Machen President & Chief Operating Officer of St. Jude Children鈥檚 Research HospitalRobert Ballard, President & CEO of Scholarship America, and Elisabet Idermark, Sr. Adviser of International Relations at Stockholm University. The night ended with a welcome party for members featuring a lip-sync battle, DJ, and ice cream bar.

Saturday, members and their families explored the expo hall featuring over 45 College & Career Expo booths which included New York University, Auburn University, U.S Department of State, and many more. Attendees were also able to shop the 精东影视 store, attend our mentor round table, and participate in our exciting educational workshops featuring presenters from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), GirlsComputingLeague, and Scholarship America. The event concluded with a Member Recognition ceremony for our members and scholarship winners, formally recognizing our newly-inducted high achieving scholars! We also recognized our Top 10 Educators of the Year. Sofia Gonzalez of Morton East High School in Illinois and recipient of the Claes Nobel Educator of the Year 2019 delivered one of the most inspiring speeches ever presented at Scholar's Day, receiving a well-deserved standing ovation.聽
